Everyone should have a little Sunshine in their lives! I will never forget the day you were carried into my life. Carried because you were too weak to walk and so tiny I could pick you up. A tiny bundle of bones held together with lice, rainscald and mud. You didn’t even look like a pony! Your poor eyes sealed shut with infection so you couldn’t see, your tiny tummy swollen with worms and your heart broken with loneliness. You were only 4mths old, a miniature filly, where was your mum? It was almost Christmas and there was no room for you so I brought you home with me. I fell in love with you that night as I sat with you so you wouldn’t be afraid and helped you to hold onto that little spark of life. Never has such a tiny creature fought so hard to live.
And look at you now my beautiful little ray of Sunshine! Proud, brave, very bold and full of life and mischief!
The ISPCA NAC rescued sunshine from a field where she was close to death. Sunshine came to me for intense care and TLC and four years later she’s still here! Words cannot describe how much this little miracle means to mean.
This is Sunshine on the day of rescue and the top image was taken recently.
