I would like to nominate Holly on behalf of Joe and Elaine Duffy from Holly's Horse Haven in Omeath, County Louth. This is Holly arriving to her new home. Joe and Elaine heard about this Thoroughbred horse that was due to go to the factory and immediately offered to take her to live her days out with them. She arrived in December 2008, as you can see from the photo (below) she was in a bad way. Holly served her owners all her life and it was thanks to Joe and Elaine that she was saved from an atrocious end to her life.

Her story will let people know that top breeding does not mean that the horse will not end up becoming a rescue case. Her breeding includes Green Dancer, Nijinsky and Northen Dancer. She came from the USA and was used as a brood mare until after 2 years without foaling she was not wanted as a result. Joe and Elaine could not understand how a magnificent horse could end up in such a way. Holly did however go on to foal again (see image above)

After Holly more horses came and hence Hollys Horse Haven began. Holly was the start of the wonderful work of this couple who now rescue and rehome numerous horses, ponies and donkeys.

This is Holly arriving in December 2008. Joe and Elaine heard she was destined for the factory and offered to rehome her. The top picture is of Holly with her foal.
